When Meditation Isn't Enough
I've often contemplated the interplay of meditation and psychotherapy. For me, it feels like a murkiness between being the passive observer of my thoughts, seeing thoughts as mere clouds in the landscape of my mind, just passing through versus (ah, linear thinking, my dear friend) an IFS-like approach where the thoughts are pointers, signposts, to inner activity and thus can be explored and transformed. I wonder if meditation can become spiritual bypass for me, in shielding me from my more turbulent thoughts.THIS ARTICLE, wonderfully shared by @steve borloz, in the Compassionate Inquiry Online Training group started by Gabor Maté is long and I thought totally worth the read. Basically it's about creating that space between our thoughts via mindfulness, and afterwards, exploring the inner terrain via psychotherapy / soul exploration.Sharing it here:
