Confucius - On Language
Hello Boys and Girls!
After a comment by one of my friends implying that my blog was slightly less than interesting, I felt impelled to wait for something phenomenal before I submitted it.
No, that moment has not come. So i figured, screw it. The moment probably won't even ever come. Might as well just entertain myself and bore everyone else.
Quotation to mull over:
"If language is not correct, then what is said is not what is meant. If what is said is not what is meant, then what ought to be done... remains undone." - Confucious
For some reason, this quotation really stuck in my head. I think because too often people speak without thinking and utter things that they don't mean. Then they get all defensive and blame YOU for taking things too literally and for being anal about holding them to their words. Funnily enough (what a cool expression), I would think that having someone hold you to your words was a good thing... I guess it can reach a point where I AM just being anal. But I sincerely believe that people should be responsible for their words. Otherwise... what am I supposed to believe? The stuff you don't say as opposed to the stuff you do say? Fascinating concept.
